USGIN (US Geoscience Information Network) Metadata Profile
This metadata scheme is a profile of ISO 19115 and ISO 19119 intended for use by the US Geoscience Information Network to describe a broad range of geoscience information resources. It provides guidance for the population of metadata documents to enable interoperability of catalog service clients with multiple servers conforming to this profile. It specifically targets serialization in XML compliant with ISO 19139.

USGIN (US Geoscience Information Network)
The U.S. Geoscience Information Network (USGIN) Foundation is a non-profit organization set up to help users join or build networks that can be used to share earth science data. USGIN is a federated information-sharing framework that uses free and open-source technology to enable data to be exposed, discovered, and accessed.
USGIN’s suite of standards, protocols, and practice is the framework behind the National Geothermal Data System (NGDS), a data sharing system that provides access to information about geothermal resources.
