For quality, interpretation, reproducibility and sharing value, microscopy images should be accompanied by detailed descriptions of the conditions that were used to produce them. Micro-Meta App is an intuitive, highly interoperable, open-source software tool that was developed in the context of the 4D Nucleome (4DN) consortium and is designed to facilitate the extraction and collection of relevant microscopy metadata as specified by the recent 4DN-BINA-OME tiered-system of Microscopy Metadata specifications. In addition to substantially lowering the burden of quality assurance, the visual nature of Micro-Meta App makes it particularly suited for training purposes.

BINA's core values are: 1) Community – building collaboration and partnership to achieve shared goals. 2) Inclusion – fostering a welcoming and diverse environment to encourage participation and individual contributions. 3) Excellence – working with rigor and integrity to ensure reproducible and quantitative data. -
QUAREP-LiMi (Quality Assessment and Reproducibility for Instruments & Images in Light Microscopy)
QUAREP-LiMi is a group of enthusiastic light microscopists from Academia and Industry, all interested in improving quality assessment (QA) and quality control (QC) in light microscopy. We came together in our first online meeting in April 2020 with about 50 attendees. By now (25th of April 2023), the group has grown to more than 500 people from 36 countries worldwide. We have members from national microscopy communities, companies involved in the microscopy business, organizations or institutions related to standardization on a national or international level, and scientific publishers and observers from funding agencies (see the graph below and on the member page for an overview). QUAREP-LiMi is open to new members, and we look forward to hearing from you. If you want to join the initiative, fill out our form. For any further questions, don't hesitate to contact us.
